The popular game played by hitting the shuttlecock with the rackets over the net is called badminton. In India Badminton has been a part of our culture for a long time. There has been number of great badminton players in the country who have been representing India in national and international level. Here is the list of top ten badminton players of India.

10. Chetan Anand
One of the best Badminton players of India, Chetan Anand has been the winner of the National Badminton Champion for four years. Other than that he has won several other medals and made the country prod with his incredible skills. Till now he has won three Commonwealth game medals and his current raking is 54.

9. Srikanth Kidam
Indian badminton player who is currently in world’s 11th rank. Born in Andhra Pradesh, this player has won 135 matches till now and trains at Gopichand Badminton Academy. He is the first Indian to win Super Series Premeier Men’s title by defeating Lin Dan in the final round of China Open Super Series Premier.

8. Parupalli Kashyap
Born in 1986, Parupalli Kashyap trains at Gopichand Badminton Academy and he was awarded the Arjuna Award in the year 2012 by the Government of India. He ,made India proud by qualifying for the 2012 London Olympics. Further, in the year 2014 he won gold medal in the Commonwealth games in singles category.

7. Aparna Popat

Former Badminton player of India, Arpana Popat was born in the year 1978 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She created history by winning senior national championships for nine times between the time span of 1997 and 2006. She started playing from 1986 and won her first National match at Hyderabad in 1997. She participated in the Olympic games twice and once in the Asian games. Her success at the international level includes a silver medal in the World Junior Championships and 4 medals in the commonwealth games. In the year 2006 she retired from Badminton owing to a wrist injury.

The left handed international badminton player of India, Jwala Gutta is currently at the top most player as the doubles specialist. She has been the proud winner of the National Badminton Champions for fourteen times till the year 2013. She is adapt in playing aggressive badminton and posses unbeatable skill at the net. Her techniques include deceptive drops and proper reading of the game. In the year 2011, this talented player received the Arjuna award.

At that time he was considered to be the number one badminton player of the world. Next year he won the gold medal in the 1981 World Cup in Kaula Lampur and after that in the year 1983 he was the winner of Bronze medal in the World Championships. His contribution to Badminton in India is magnificent.
